Know where your data goes.

Fastermark has no dedicated account, sync server, or analytics. Optional Chrome connections and external site searches are explained here.

Local data and temporary state

Local bookmarks include titles, original/normalized URLs, domains, descriptions, folders, order, dates, and usage counts in extension IndexedDB. Connected mode also keeps native bindings, local projections, and operations for inspection. Descriptions and counts remain local.

Appearance, site settings, CSS themes, shortcuts, and onboarding use chrome.storage.local, not extension sync storage. Bookmark and tab search indexes run only in workspace memory.

Tab titles, URLs, windows, and groups are read from the current browser. Browsing snapshots are not persisted. Batch-move previews, tasks, and conditional undo use temporary chrome.storage.session, cleared on browser exit and excluded from ordinary backups. Only an explicit save creates a lasting bookmark.

This website saves only its light/dark/system appearance choice in browser localStorage, independently of the extension. It does not read your bookmarks, open tabs, or extension settings.

Permissions and their purposes

No activeTab, scripting, history, or permanent all-sites permission is requested. Chrome manages permission prompts during upgrades.

tabs · required

Read titles and URLs to save the current page and find or organize normal-window tabs. No page body is read. No page script is injected.

contextMenus · required

Provide the workspace entry in the extension icon's context menu.

favicon · required

Show icons through the browser's built-in interface, without a third-party favicon service.

storage · required

Store local preferences, themes, onboarding, workspace notifications, and temporary session tasks.

unlimitedStorage · required

Provide local space for bookmarks, recovery snapshots, and archives. Uninstalling, clearing data, or disk failure can still remove local data.

bookmarks · optional

Requested only when connecting Chrome bookmarks. Permission and an explicit merge confirmation enable reading and editing native bookmarks. Local bookmarks and tab search remain available after denial.

tabGroups · optional

Requested for confirmed grouping, organizing by site, or group-membership actions needing group metadata. Ordinary searching and switching do not need it.

Network, Chrome sync, and third parties

Fastermark does not send bookmarks, tab metadata, or local search terms to its servers, analytics platforms, or third-party indexing/AI services. There is no Fastermark account or dedicated sync service.

A Chrome connection can write titles, URLs, folders, and order to native bookmarks. Chrome may sync those records using its configured browser account. Participating folders and remote delivery are managed by Chrome; Fastermark does not claim to have verified arrival on another device.

Opening a bookmark or direct URL makes a normal request to the destination. Explicit site-search submission sends the encoded query to your selected website; typing does not request remote suggestions. Destination websites and the browser follow their own policies.

The website sets no application cookies and uses no account, data-collection form, analytics script, or remote font. Hosting services may process the request information needed to deliver pages.

04

Export, deletion, and retention

Portable JSON v7 and HTML exports are initiated by you. Ordinary backups exclude Chrome bindings, local settings/themes, operation logs, undo/recovery snapshots, and historical archives. Export CSS themes and historical archives separately; archives may contain old bodies or tags.

Deletion, import, replacement restore, and native-folder snapshots are retained locally under their respective rules. Single-deletion and native-folder recovery snapshots have a 30-day window. Import undo and pre-restore recovery can become unavailable after later data changes. Follow the actual conditions shown in the interface.

Disconnecting stops native writes and retains a local snapshot; it does not delete native browser bookmarks or sign out of Chrome. Uninstalling or clearing extension data removes local data. Previously written native bookmarks remain managed by Chrome.

Clearing this website's site data removes its appearance preference and does not change extension bookmarks.
